Situated on the edge of a small hamlet, in the lovely rolling hills of the Vendée, the two-acre camping meadow has beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Tranquil and secure, there is no road adjacent, the only access being through our old farm courtyard. With a maximum of six vans/tents, there is more than enough space to pitch wherever you like and a 6amp electricity supply can be provided to the favourite areas.

There are showers, toilets, washing cubicles and dish-washing sinks (two of each) and hot water is included in the fees, which are:
Pitch, 2 adults & electricity - 14 euros
Extra adult - 3.5 Extra child - 2.5 euros
(3 euro discount for non-electricity users)
Dogs (please keep on a leash) - 1 euro

We are 6kms east of La Châtaigneraie and our nearest village is Breuil Barret. You can find us on the map almost exactly half-way between Les Sables d’Olonne and Poitiers (mostly D949bis) and La Rochelle is approximately 1hr 10mins to the south-west.

The hamlet of La Viollière is just 2kms outside the village of Breuil Barret, which has a bar/restaurant
with outside seating, a good boulangerie/épicerie, tennis court, lovely old church and two hairdressers!
Several marked walks being from the village centre.

Banks, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and good outdoor swimming pool are to be found at our nearest town, La Châtaigneraie (6kms). The local leisure lake, for fishing and woodland picnic area (with café & pool during high season) is just minutes away.

We are very well placed for wide and varied exploring. It is approximately1hr 15mins to the long, sandy beaches of the West Coast, 1hr 20mins to Saumur, chateaux and vineyards of the Loire Valley and about the same distance to Poitiers and Futuroscope. The tranquil water ways of the Venise Verte and Puy du Fou (famous parc of Vendée history) are both about 45 minutes drive.

There are many local activities too, such as walking, cycling, horse riding, boating/
swimming in the forest and lakes of Mervent or, for the more adventurous, Micro-
lite 'baptism' flights, go-karting and tree-top adventure courses! The area is full of
interesting towns, villages and sites, such as the picturesque medieval village of
Vouvant or Fontenay le Comte (ancient capital of the Vendée), the donjon at
Bazoges en Pareds and there are chateaux, museums, weekly markets and
small local wine producers to visit.

Taking D949bis towards Poitiers, drive through the village of Breuil Barret.
Pass under the old railway bridge, take second turning right (signposted La Viollière).
Drive up slight hill, past the first right-hand turn, then just past large barn, turn right
into our courtyard. Camping meadow is straight down through courtyard.

We do normally advise booking during June, July & August and for this we ask a nominal
deposit of £10 per week.
